Searching the Bibb County Court Docket
Figure out which Bibb County court holds the case before anything else. A citation, bond sheet, pleading, or an older order tells you. Felonies, divorces, equity disputes, and title-to-land fights all sit in Superior Court. Misdemeanors and many civil jury matters go to State Court. Civil and Magistrate Court handles small civil claims, dispossessories, repossessions, garnishments, and foreclosures. Probate keeps estates and guardianships. Municipal Court takes the traffic, parking, ordinance, and environmental cases assigned to it.
Then use the narrowest official docket tool available. State Court runs its own county Docket Search. Superior and State cases both appear in re:SearchGA. You must register an account first. Civil and Magistrate Court links a separate case search. Municipal offers a citation and payment channel. It has no full anonymous docket register.
- Read the document and identify the named court.
- Keep the exact case or citation number, including punctuation.
- Search the official court portal by number or public name.
- Match the court, caption, case type, status, and filing year.
- Read events in sequence and check for a newer reset.
- Call, visit, or write the clerk for unavailable documents.
Bibb County Docket Search Systems
re:SearchGA is Georgia's account-based gateway to electronic court records for participating courts. Bibb Superior and Bibb State are both listed there. It does not replace Municipal, Probate, Juvenile, or Civil and Magistrate channels. After registering, pick Search, then Advanced Search. Then choose Cases or Hearings. The fields shift depending on which method you select.
| Portal field | Use | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Email/User ID and password | Account sign-in | An account is required |
| Cases or Hearings | Select record or setting search | Participating courts only |
| Search By | Choose number, name, or another live option | Fields change by choice |
| Add Search Criteria | Narrow by court, type, status, or date | Too many filters can hide a match |
A broad name match proves nothing by itself. Check the case number, the court, the public caption, and the year before trusting any Bibb County docket result. If nothing comes back, strip away extra filters first, since over-filtering can hide a case that does exist.
Inside a Bibb County Court Docket
A docket is just a timeline of one case. The header comes first. Parties and counsel follow, then dated events, hearing settings, orders, and disposition details. Some systems add financial fields too. Remember that an event label may summarize a document rather than reproduce it, and a visible entry does not guarantee the image behind it will open.
| Case number | The unique court identifier. Preserve its year, court elements, and punctuation exactly. |
|---|---|
| Caption and parties | The public case style and roles, such as State and defendant or plaintiff and defendant. |
| Case events | Dated filings, notices, motions, orders, continuances, and other steps. |
| Hearing settings | Date, time, judge, courtroom or virtual format, and setting type when shown. |
| Status | A system label such as active, pending, disposed, reopened, or transferred. |
| Disposition | The recorded outcome, which should be checked against the signed order or judgment. |
Never read a charge, claim, bond amount, complaint amount, or balance as the final result. Those are numbers in an index, not rulings. When a short event label seems unclear, the signed ruling controls.
Bibb Docket, Image, or Certified Copy
Three products get mixed up constantly. The docket or case-event list is just an index. It shows what happened in the case. A filed image is the real complaint, motion, notice, order, or judgment behind an entry. A certified copy is a clerk-attested reproduction. It is used where official authentication matters. A portal screen is not automatically either of the last two.
Docket: the chronological case index and setting history.
Filed image: the accepted document associated with an event.
Certified copy: a reproduction formally attested by the custodian clerk.
Exemplified copy: a higher form of authentication whose availability and fee must be confirmed.
Write down the exact event description and date before requesting anything. Ask the clerk whether the image can be inspected online or at the courthouse, then order only the pages or instrument you need. Bibb County courts do not publish plain-copy and certification prices uniformly, so get a quote first.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Bibb County
Bibb County has no single universal clerk. Several court offices share the J. Taylor Phillips Courthouse, yet each one remains a separate custodian of its own records. The court type controls both jurisdiction and the correct docket search route.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search |
|---|---|---|
| Bibb Superior Court | Felony, divorce, equity, land title, and major civil | re:SearchGA; Superior Clerk |
| State Court of Bibb County | Misdemeanor, State civil, and assigned traffic | County Docket Search; re:SearchGA; Room 500 |
| Civil and Magistrate Court | Small civil, dispossessory, garnishment, and foreclosure | Official court search; fourth-floor clerk |
| Probate Court | Estate, guardianship, conservatorship, and commitment | Second-floor Probate clerk |
| Municipal Court | Traffic, parking, ordinance, environmental, and certain misdemeanor cases | Court-linked channel; first-floor clerk |
Juvenile Court keeps dependency and delinquency matters under strong access limits. A transfer or appeal can spawn a second case number, so follow any cross-reference into the receiving court.
Five Bibb County Docket Keepers
The shared address is 601 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. But the floor matters as much as the street. Municipal Court sits on the first floor. The Superior Clerk works out of Suite 216, and Probate occupies the second-floor level. Civil and Magistrate Court is up on the fourth floor. State Court sits in Room 500. Walking into the right courthouse and asking the wrong clerk sends a docket search sideways fast. The official Macon-Bibb court directory maps these offices and lists their public numbers.
Call ahead before you travel. Confirm interpreter needs, disability accommodation, parking, device rules, and general access details in one conversation. Bibb County's courts publish no complete inventory of public terminals, so ask the assigned clerk directly whether terminal inspection is available and where.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
Start with the newest filed notice or the date printed on the charging paper. Search the case and check both the event history and the hearing fields. Then compare the current published calendar. A later continuance, reset, or scheduling order can displace an older date. The old entry stays visible. So the freshest paper wins.
Bibb State criminal calendars follow local habits. Arraignments and pleas are commonly set for Friday mornings, and inmate matters happen virtually on Tuesdays. Nonjury and jury matters run on their own cycle. Plea, arraignment, and nonjury calendars may be prepared only days before court. Jury calendars appear farther ahead. Superior annual trial assignments can be supplemented later.
For the final check, call the assigned clerk or chambers with the case number in hand. A voicemail does not change a setting. The detailed Bibb County court dates process explains how to compare the docket, calendar, and later orders.
Bibb County Docket Calendar Rhythm
Calendar timing explains why an early docket search can look thin. State pleas, arraignments, and nonjury lists are often prepared two to three days before court. Jury lists may come out three to four weeks before call. A judge can permit later additions. Superior calendars flag civil and criminal trial weeks. The court warns assignments may change or be supplemented. The official State Court page helps here. It groups its Docket Search, calendar, filing, and traffic channels in one place.
A missing name on an early calendar is not a dismissal. Check later docket entries and confirm the current setting with the court.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Bibb State Court's policy gives the clearest local explanation of access. Georgia's judicial branch is not an ordinary agency under the Open Records Act definition. Even so, courtrooms stay presumptively open. Court records remain available for inspection unless sealed or confidential. Do not expect the ordinary agency response deadline for a judicial file.
Key access rules:
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 requires a judicial sealing order and supporting findings.
Uniform State Court Rule 21 and Bibb policy preserve access unless a record is sealed or confidential.
O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq. is Georgia’s Open Records Act, subject to the judicial-branch distinction.
O.C.G.A. § 50-18-72 protects specified personal identifiers, including Social Security numbers and civil birth dates.
Missing online is not the same as sealed. Juvenile, adoption, some mental-health files, and protected identifiers get special handling. Ask the clerk whether a public portion exists and which rule or order governs access.
Bibb County Docket Access Policy
State Court staff will help find records that the website and case-management system do not carry. They help once assigned duties permit. They handle written requests case by case. The policy promises no instant service. It promises no single online cutoff, and no access to every image. It also separates public court records from confidential data inside them. The Bibb State Court public-access policy is the local source.
A gap in the portal can mean limited coverage, an archived image, a processing lag, or simply the wrong court. By itself, it does not prove a judge sealed the case.

Missing Bibb County Docket Results
No match? Strip the extra filters first. Check spelling, punctuation, business suffixes, the court, and the filing year. A name-only docket search can sprawl too wide. A stray middle initial or wrong court filter can bury the record you want. A fresh Municipal citation may need five working days. The officer delivers it, and staff enter the data.
Then fall back on the court itself. Superior matters move from re:SearchGA to Suite 216. Try a phone call, or a written request. State matters go from the county search to the calendar, re:SearchGA, and Room 500. Civil and Magistrate cases land with the fourth-floor clerk. Probate runs through its second-floor counter. Municipal matters work by phone, email, fax, mail, or the first-floor counter.
For older records, ask whether the index is electronic. Perhaps the image sits in the archive. For a new filing, ask whether the clerk has accepted it into the official system yet. Never send sensitive identifiers just to widen a search.
Bibb County Docket E-Filing Split
E-filing and public record access are separate jobs. Odyssey eFileGA is mandatory for Bibb Superior Court. PeachCourt is mandatory for most State civil filings. Filing in State criminal court is where its use stays optional. Bibb State Court warns plainly that PeachCourt is not the Court's official file. So a transmission receipt proves neither clerk acceptance nor judicial action.
Check the official docket to confirm the filing became a case event. When proof matters, get the signed document from the clerk. Expect three dates to disagree. There is the vendor's submission date, the docket event date, and the order's signature date. Read each field for exactly what it says.
The split grew up alongside the county's shift to web payments and electronic court systems. Faster filing routes came with a local trap. The handiest vendor screen is not always the authoritative Bibb County court docket.
Bibb Superior Court Docket Circuit
Bibb County Superior Court sits in the Macon Judicial Circuit alongside Crawford and Peach Counties. Five Superior judges keep principal offices in Bibb. That structure matters. A calendar or assignment may name the Macon Circuit rather than Bibb County alone. The case number and county designation stay essential. Check them when matching a result. The official Bibb Superior Court page explains its jurisdiction and circuit role.
Superior Court takes felonies, divorce, equity, land title, and other matters within its constitutional authority. State, Civil and Magistrate, Probate, Municipal, and Juvenile courts each stay separate. Each keeps its own records and its own clerk.
Bibb County Court Dockets by City
Macon and Bibb County consolidated effective January 1, 2014. Payne City dissolved into the consolidated government, so one incorporated place anchors the city-page set. The Municipal Court of Macon-Bibb County now holds countywide jurisdiction over assigned traffic, parking, ordinance, environmental, and certain misdemeanor violations. It sits on the first floor at 601 Mulberry Street. Its payment lookup is not a full anonymous case-history system. When the online channel can't answer your docket question, call 478-751-7154, email court@maconbibb.us, fax 478-910-2350, mail P.O. Box 247, or visit the counter. Probate remains separate, as its official Bibb County page shows.

Map and Directions to the J. Taylor Phillips Bibb County Courthouse
Superior Court felony, divorce, equity, and land-title cases are filed with the Clerk of Superior Court at the J. Taylor Phillips Bibb County Courthouse, 601 Mulberry Street, in downtown Macon at Second and Mulberry. The Superior Clerk's counter is Suite 216, on the same floor level as Probate Court, while State Court sits in Room 500, Civil and Magistrate Court is on the fourth floor, and Municipal Court is on the first floor. Confirming the right court before the trip avoids climbing to the wrong floor.

The building's main entrance is on the Second Street side, where visitors pass through a metal detector; weapons and unlawful paraphernalia are barred. Because Superior, State, Civil/Magistrate, Probate, and Municipal courts each keep separate dockets on different floors of the same building, calling the specific clerk first confirms the file is on the floor you're headed to.
